What skills do the students learn in the Bootcamp?
The four key Sports Mindset skills in the program are: Confidence, Emotional Balance, Focus and ‘Handling Tough Stuff’. Students learn the basics of what these skills mean for sport, and how to strengthen them through basic exercises and a 6-week training program.
When does the Bootcamp start and finish?
The Bootcamp is self-paced. Some tweens comfortably complete it in 4-6 weeks, but a lot will depend on your tween's age, their individual needs, and your time! Basically the program can be taken a a pace that suits your individual tween and your family.
How is the Bootcamp delivered?
Lessons are comprised of easy-to-follow video tutorials and worksheets.
What support is there throughout the program?
The Bootcamp is designed so that the students can work through the program independently, and easily follow the steps set out in each lesson.

What level of sport does my child need to be playing, for Mindset Skills to benefit them?
It is designed for athletes of all levels and abilities, aged 11 and 12.
How much time does my tween need to commit to the Bootcamp?
All up, the Bootcamp is approximately 2.5 hours in total, comprised of 41 mini lessons. The video lessons are between 2-5 minutes long, and most are between 3-4 minutes. However there's a lot of new information, some of which will challenge them, and children process information at different rates.
I encourage the students to take their time to absorb the information and the learning, and to also have regular 'focus breaks'. Some days they may feel up to watching only 1 or 2 lessons, and other days they can cover more.
I also reinforce throughout the Bootcamp that mindset skills take work, just like working on other areas of their game!
Sometimes the students are keen to get through the first 4 skill modules and go straight to the Playbook and Exercises (the strategies)! However it's important they learn about the 4 key skills first, because it makes the exercises work much more effectively.
My tween is neurodiverse - is the Bootcamp for them?
I estimate that at least a quarter of players I coach are tweens or teens who are neurodiverse.
Providing support for young people who are neurodiverse isn't an area I am professionally qualified in, however I have had neurodivergent tweens complete the course and experience success using the strategies.

My tween has a mental health condition - is the Bootcamp for them?
If your child has a mental health condition, the program shouldn't replace medical or other advice received by your child's treating practitioners. I'm not a qualified psychologist, and the information in the program isn't psychological advice.

How can I support my tween throughout the program?
The best support you can be to your tween as they work through the program is to keep encouraging them and being their biggest cheerleader! ♥️
You can choose to sit with your tween as they watch the lessons, but it's not essential. However, I do recommend you help them with the Worksheets, as some will challenge their thinking and beliefs, and require some problem-solving and insight from people who know them well :)
How long do we have access to the Bootcamp for?
Your tween won't be a tween forever (!) but they will need mindset skills for as long as they play sport. Once the students have finished the learning component, they will have lifelong access to the course, including all the updates to the course that we post along the way.
What if I'm keen but my tween isn't?!
This is a tough one - you can see what the Bootcamp is about and think it would help your tween, but your tween isn't interested?!
If you're finding yourself having to talk your tween into it, they're probably not ready for it, and that's ok! When they're ready, they will get more out of it and be prepared to do the work.
But at least by you mentioning it, you're planting the seed....and if and when when they are ready, we will still be here. 🔆
Is the content like sport psychology?
Content in the program draws on the scientific evidence base and principles of sport psychology, positive psychology and neuroscience, however the information provided is not clinical sports psychology advice.
What if my tween starts the bootcamp, but it's not for them?

What happens after my tween completes the Bootcamp?
The Sports Mindset Bootcamp is designed as a self-paced learning program.
After the students finish the program, they start putting into practice what they have learned, in a 6-week Training Plan.

My child is 10 years old, can they still do the Bootcamp?
Yes, the Bootcamp could be suitable for a 10-year-old, however it will depend on where your child is at in terms of being able to focus and follow a self-paced learning program, and how motivated and willing they are to participate.
